ALE 2021-22 Season Refund Policy

We are updating our Terms & Conditions provided during your booking process or detailed in your contract to meet the issues raised by COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2). The core Terms & Conditions will still apply but with the modifications detailed below.

Should you decide to cancel, then notification of cancellation must be received in writing by ALE. At the time we receive your written cancellation, the following penalties will apply:

  1. More than 90 days prior to departure payments are refundable, less a $1000 (USD) processing fee.
  2. Less than 90 days prior to departure the full experience cost is non-refundable.

However, ALE may cancel a specific departure or departures prior to the actual flight date for any reason whatsoever, including too few participants, logistical problems or any other circumstances including Force Majeure that are beyond ALE’s control and that make operation of the departure inadvisable. The decision to cancel a specific departure or departures is within the sole and absolute discretion of ALE. All monies received by ALE from you or your agent for the cancelled departure(s) shall be refunded. This refund will be the limit of ALE’s liability.

We strongly recommend that you to obtain trip cancellation insurance cover. We urge you to carefully check that your policy covers pre-trip and during trip cancellation resulting from infection or isolation due to COVID-19.

Modifications to our Terms & Conditions for 2021–22 Season

  1. If ALE cancels an experience due to COVID-19 restrictions we will offer you the choice of a refund or a one season option to delay your trip to an equivalent experience in the 2022–23 season with no increase in price.
  2. If, after arriving in Punta Arenas, Chile, you have a positive COVID-19 test result or need to isolate because of contact with a COVID-19 infected person, we will offer you a one season option to take an equivalent experience in the 2022–23 season with no increase in price. We will not offer a refund.
  3. If you are concerned your travel plans may be affected by COVID-19 restrictions and do not want to commit to the less than 90 day refund policy stated above at b., we will be unable to confirm your booking. We will put you on a waitlist but you run the risk of the experience being sold out. We will keep you on the waitlist until 30 days prior to departure for Antarctica if there are available places, when we will ask you to decide whether you will join the experience or not.

Specific Modification to our Terms & Conditions for Eclipse Guests

  1. If, after arriving in Punta Arenas, Chile, you have a positive COVID-19 test result or need to isolate because of contact with a COVID-19 infected person, we will offer you a place on our South Pole Flight Experience in the 2022–23 season at no extra cost. We will not offer a refund.
