Carolyn Bailey

Carolyn began her working life as a Geneticist in Cancer Research, before deciding to change direction to work in the outdoors. She has been an Expedition Leader in the Arctic, Antarctic and other countries, leading teams of both adults and young people in cold, challenging and often technical terrain. Her Antarctic career began in 2001 as a Field Guide with the British Antarctic Survey and she has been a Departmental Head with ALE since 2011. In total, she has spent one winter and 14 summers in the Antarctic.
