The Next Chapter of Antarctic Exploration Begins in the Air
For nearly 40 years, Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions (ALE) has helped travelers experience some of the most remote places on Earth. During the 2026-27 season, guests will have the opportunity to see Antarctica from an entirely new perspective with the introduction of ALE’s first-ever helicopter scenic flight experience.
Available exclusively to guests staying at Union Glacier and Three Glaciers Retreat, this new add-on offers a rare chance to explore the Antarctic interior from above. Aboard an AS350 B3 or H125 helicopter, guests can enjoy approximately 40 minutes of flightseeing over dramatic mountain ranges, vast glaciers, and ice formations that reveal the true scale of the continent.
Whether you’re planning your first Antarctic journey or returning to the continent, this add-on provides a unique opportunity to deepen your connection to one of the planet’s last great wildernesses.
A View Few Will Ever Experience
Antarctica is already one of the world’s most extraordinary destinations. Yet even seasoned polar travelers know that some of its most spectacular landscapes can only be fully appreciated from the air.
The helicopter experience offers a bird’s-eye view of the rugged terrain surrounding Union Glacier and Three Glaciers Retreat, showcasing the immense beauty and remoteness of the continent in a way that is simply impossible to experience from the ground alone.
Limited Availability
Helicopter operations are expected to be available for a limited period between early December and mid-January during the 2026-27 season. As with all Antarctic operations, flights are subject to weather conditions, aircraft availability, and operational requirements.
Because availability cannot be guaranteed, flights cannot be reserved in advance. However, guests are encouraged to express their interest before departure. Those who do will be among the first to be notified if booking opportunities become available during their stay.
Be Among the First
The 2026-27 season marks a milestone in ALE’s history. While ALE has supported aviation and field operations across Antarctica for decades, this is the first time guests will have the opportunity to experience recreational helicopter sightseeing as part of their Antarctic journey.
For travelers seeking a fresh perspective on the White Continent, the newest chapter of Antarctic exploration is ready for takeoff. Guests interested in learning more or registering their interest can contact ALE or speak with their Guest Services Liaison before departure.
