Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions Launches First-Ever Helicopter Scenic Flight Add-on at Union Glacier

Exclusively Available at Union Glacier and Three Glaciers Retreat

UNION GLACIER, Antarctica – Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions (ALE) will offer guests a new way to experience Antarctica during the 2026-2027 season with the launch of its first-ever helicopter scenic flight add-on.

For the first time in the company’s history, guests will have the opportunity to explore Antarctica from the air aboard either an AS350 B3 or H125 helicopter, enjoying approximately 40-minute flights over some of the world’s most dramatic mountains, glaciers, and ice formations.

Available exclusively to guests staying at Union Glacier or Three Glaciers Retreat, the scenic flights are expected to operate for a limited period between early December and mid-January, subject to aircraft availability, operational requirements, and weather conditions.

The new offering represents a significant addition to ALE’s guest experience portfolio. While ALE has supported Antarctic expeditions and field operations by air for decades, the 2026-2027 season marks the company’s first recreational helicopter sightseeing program.

“Antarctica is breathtaking from the ground, but seeing it from above offers an entirely different perspective,” said Mike McDowell, partner at ALE. “We’re excited to give our guests the opportunity to experience the scale, beauty, and remoteness of this extraordinary continent in a way that has never before been available through ALE.”

Guests may note their interest before departure by contacting ALE directly or through their Punta Arenas Guest Services Liaison or Antarctic Guest Services Liaison. Interest will be recorded, and if flights become available during their trip, those who expressed interest in advance will be among the first guests notified of booking opportunities, subject to availability. Pricing is available upon request.
