Salt Lake City Team

Business Manager

Conor Frantzen

Conor joined ALE in 2026, after nearly two decades working in expedition and adventure travel. He began his career leading student trips with Overland Summers before moving into year-round operational roles. He later spent more than twelve years with Natural Habitat Adventures, where he worked in operations on South America programs and, in later years, led the company’s technology team. He holds an MBA from the University of Colorado and a degree in economics from Dartmouth College. Originally from Maine, he lives in Salt Lake City with his family and enjoys time outdoors, especially cycling.
Sales Manager

Stephanie Taylor

With 25 years in the travel industry—15 of them with ALE—Stephanie still believes there’s nothing quite like the thrill of a new destination (bonus points if it’s Antarctica!). As the Sales Manager, she loves being part of the sales team and helping bring once-in-a-lifetime expeditions to life. Stephanie has been lucky enough to experience Antarctica firsthand, which only fuels her passion for sharing these extraordinary journeys with others. When she's not working, she enjoys exploring with her family, taking walks with her 2 dogs, watching a good crime show and, of course, keeping fueled with a steady supply of Diet Coke along the way.
Marketing & Public Relations Manager

Heather Bowers

Heather Bowers was born and raised in sunny California. She earned a B.A. in Public Relations from Brigham Young University, along with a minor in Business Management. Heather began her career in the nonprofit sector before transitioning into digital marketing in 2018, where she brings a strong mix of organization, creativity, and analytical thinking. Outside of work, Heather enjoys creating (and organizing) spreadsheets, trying new foods, performing improv comedy, and training in mixed martial arts (MMA).
Human Resources Manager

Debra Lawler

Debra holds a Behavioral Science & Health degree from the University of Utah and brings a people‑centered, energetic approach to her work. With more than two decades in Human Resources, she has built a career helping organizations grow stronger through people, supporting global, multi‑site operations across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. She leads People & Culture functions in complex, fast‑moving environments, with a focus on leadership development, performance systems, career development, and employee experience.

Outside of work, Debra’s roots trace back to Utah, though she later moved to Big Sky, Montana in search of deeper snow and bigger mountains. Her happy place is Lake Powell, where red rock walls, deep blue skies, and blue‑green water make every trip unforgettable. She brings the same drive to adventure that she brings to her work, from bike races to powder days, and to life with her four dogs, a pack that earned her the family nickname “Crazy Dog Lady.”

Travel Specialist

Miri Gubler

Miri is a member of the Sales Team, working closely with guests to help them prepare for the journey of a lifetime and navigate the complexities of Antarctic travel.

Miri has a strong background in tourism, customer service, and administrative coordination, with previous experience in tourism marketing and community engagement. Always drawn to connecting people with meaningful places and experiences, she enjoys this part of the job immensely, especially after having visited the South Pole herself in January 2025.

Her path into this unique polar world has been rooted in a variety of outdoor work and a bachelor's degree in Sustainable Tourism from the University of Utah. She spent five seasons as a river guide on the Snake River in Wyoming, a year working on a backcountry trail crew in the state of Maine and later helped run coastal education programs in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Outside of work, Miri volunteers with the local aquarium and symphony and enjoys hiking, camping, playing Dungeons & Dragons, obsessing over her cat Bear and is almost single-handedly keeping movie theaters in business.

Mike Collier

Marketing & Content Specialist

Ty Smith-Mecham

Ty studied journalism and marketing at Utah State University and has experience in both long-form and short-form campaign projects. He enjoys traveling around the world and growing his skills in video/photography. Outside of the office, Ty is on the tennis court, where he is reminded he cannot hit a proper serve, or spending time with his puppy, Caesar.
Travel Specialist

Doug Johnson

Doug joined the SLC Team as a Travel Specialist after a career in the aviation industry. Originally from northeast Ohio, he spent most of his life in Dallas/Fort Worth before moving to Salt Lake City in early 2025. He is an avid traveler. Doug completed his quest to step foot on all seven continents in 2015 when he stepped foot on Antarctica. He enjoys day hikes in the mountains, reading good books, and community service opportunities.
